Edith Acton

Edith Acton is a world traveler who has always called Terre Haute, Indiana "Home". She attended a local high school and continued her education with Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Home Economics Education from Indiana State University. She taught Home Economics for several years at Terre Haute High Schools. During this time span she married and had three children - a son and two daughters. Now Edith is the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
"I have always been a crafter, but after retiring I have found more time to develop more artistic work. I find the closer I get to creating art from my own creative abilities the more satisfied I am with the final product. For the past several years I have settled on Fused Glass as my medium to use for my art work. It can be both the easiest and the most complex of mediums. It involves taking a piece of glass and some smaller cut pieces and then designing a pleasing, visual form. Finally it is transformed by placing the glass arrangement in a kiln, applying intense heat, allowing it to soften, take a new shape, transition, finally to morph into a new object entirely."
