Kate Meehling

Subsequently she enrolled in the WED program at St. Mary of the Woods, studying Art History, painting, and printmaking. In 1985 she earned credit for a course, Humanities Through the Arts, offered on T.V. by Lakeland, coming through a National hookup, with Maya Angelou as the leader, bringing together many aspects of Art. More about basic drawing and perspective was learned from Jack Davidson, teaching a Lakeland College Extension class at the High School.
For 12 years between 1980-1993 she was elected and served on the Sheldon Swope Art Museum Board of Trustees.
Kate was one of the founding board members of Gaslight Art Colony in Marshall, IL when it was formed in 2009. She is now an honorary board member. Kate continues her art today, meeting to paint with fellow artists each week. She enjoys working in oils, watercolors, pastels and acrylics.
