Margaret Hinz

I became obsessed with capturing the beauty of the natural world and putting it in a space where it didn’t quite belong. I picked up an internship at the Field Museum, where I continue to practice the craft of taxidermy.

My work at the museum directly influences my work, and I am beginning to explore new fascinating mediums besides painting to channel my passion for the natural world. For example, my most recent endeavors include working with fibers: using embroidery, weaving, some knitting, and making “soft sculptures,” I can embody a more visceral take on living and breathing forms of nature.
